Warm up this weekend in Edmonton with outdoor activities — such as skating or deep-freezer racing! Or keep warm inside with some thought-provoking art and hilarious stand-up!

1. Swing & Skate | January 11 | 1 pm – 4 pm
Featuring live swing, jazz, and big band music, head down to City Hall to get your boogie-woogie on! Sugar Swing Dance Club will give dance lessons indoors, or you can enjoy the music outdoors on the ice rink! The dancing will continue throughout January and February with a new local band playing live music every Sunday.

2. Deep Freeze Festival | January 10 & 11
This family festival is a winter adventure celebrating the Russian/Ukrainian “Olde New Year” and embraces the magic and beauty of winter with authentic cultural and heritage winter games and activities, including races in actual deep freezers, wagon rides, and a 3-on-3 hockey tournament.

3. Donnell Rawlings | Through January 11
If you loved him on Chappelle’s Show as the hilarious Ashy Larry, you’ll want to catch Donnell Rawlings stand-up act! You may even hear the comedian, actor and radio host give his infamous catchphrase: “I’m rich, biaaaaatch!”

4. Nowhere People | Through March 22
This photographic exhibition gives a human face to the global issue of statelessness, which is a reality for 10 million people around the world. It reveals the impact of statelessness on people and communities who find themselves excluded from society by forces beyond their control.
