Black Canadian culinary traditions and histories have been forged through decades of African and Afro-Caribbean immigrants, as well as formerly enslaved Black people who escaped American slavery. Food is central to culture and identity and is how Black Canadians maintain their communal relationships and connect with their heritage. Edmonton is home to numerous and diverse Black communities hailing from all around the world, which has influenced the local landscape and infused culinary traditions rich with foods from African and Caribbean cultures.

Old Strathcona, Edmonton’s beloved historic district, has recently undergone a remarkable transformation, adding a splash of color and comfort to its bustling streets. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Old Strathcona Business Association (OSBA) and funding support from PrairiesCan, the completion of a two-year placemaking project has brought about the installation of over 50 pieces of vibrant street furniture, including five inviting parklets, across the district. This show is a phenomenon.

PAW Patrol is a Canadian success story.  The animated TV show appeared on Nickelodeon in August 2013.  Since then, the series has become a media franchise, with toy sales, a feature film and a sequel, The Mighty Movie, and a spin-off series, Rubble & Crew, which premiered in February 2023.

PAW Patrol has received multiple awards and nominations, including the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

There is a lot to praise about the Citadel Theatre’s production of The Three Musketeers.  Based upon Alexandre Dumas’ classic—and very long—novel, published in 1844, the story has been reframed as a comedy, adapted from the novel by Catherine Bush, and directed by Daryl Cloran.
