From scaring your pants off at a haunted house to some subtly spooky family fun, these Halloween activities in Edmonton are offering endless thrills! Feel a chill in your bones at one of these ghost tours or scary film screenings below.

1. Dedfest | October 18 – 23
This annual film festival showcases a selection of blood-curdling, suspenseful independent feature-length and short horror, cult, and sci-fi films from around the world. 2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame | October 31 | 11:30 pm
At this annual Halloween treat, Dennis James will play a live accompaniment to this classic on the impressive Davis Concert organ. Unlike the Disney version, this chilling film is more violent and set the standard for later horror films of the era.

3. Edmonton Ghost Tours | Through October 31 | 7 pm & 9 pm
For just $10 per soul, you can go on an educational and spooky tour of Edmonton to learn about some of its dark and supernatural history. At 7 pm, meet in front of the Rescuer statue at Walterdale Playhouse for a tour of the Whyte Ave. and Old Strathcona area. Or, at 9 pm, meet in front of Rutherford House for a tour of the University of Alberta and Garneau area. Both have many chilling stories to reveal!

4. Halloween Movies at Metro Cinema | Through October 31
One of the best ways to get your Halloween-chill fix is to take in a scary movie, but some movies are too frightening to take in alone at home. So head to the theatre and see a scary flick in the safety of others! Features include Hungarian: Whooping Cough, Suspiria, and more leading up to Halloween night! 5. Deadmonton House | Through November 5 | 7 pm – 11 pm
Face your darkest fears at one of the creepiest experiences in Edmonton. You can never be too sure whether you imagined that hand on your shoulder or if it was really there as a team of scare specialists do their best to chill you. Read the warning on the house’s website before visiting, as this event is not for the faint of heart.

6. Spooktacular: Grave Discoveries | Oct 21, 22, 28
Prepare to be haunted by the past at Fort Edmonton Park! In a time when people still believed in superstitions and scientists performed mad experiments in the name of medicine, you’ll explore creepy shops and disturbing finds. This spooky, family-friendly history lesson ups its scare tactics on October 28 for an adults-only event.

7. Dead Centre of Town | October 21 – 23 & 26 – 31
At this travelling, live-action horror show, the skeletons and secrets in Edmonton’s closet possess the Hotel Selkirk. Urban lore is mixed with history, all in order to give you an unforgettable — it will haunt your nightmares — theatrical experience. Leave the kiddies at home: this is an adults-only event.

8. Halloween Theatresports | October 28 | 7:30 pm & 10 pm
Edmonton’s renowned improv comedy troupe Rapid Fire Theatre performs Theatresports weekly, where teams of talented improvisers do their best to win over the audience in a series of improv challenges. Halloween night will have them playing with a special Halloween theme!

9. Haunted Pumpkin Festival | Sat – Sun through October 30 | 9 am – 6 pm

11. Refinery Danse Macabre | October 29
The darker side of the Art Gallery of Alberta will come out to play at this pre-Halloween late-night art party! Reflect on morality and mortality as you view impressive installations from local designers and enjoy appetizers and drinks alongside the gallery’s current thought-provoking exhibits.
