Festivals, exhibits, comedy shows, outdoor concerts, and sporting events?! With this amount of fun to be had, there’s no reason to complain about being bored this weekend!

1) Heritage Festival | Aug 3–5
Taking place at Hawrelak Park, spend an afternoon celebrating Canada’s multiculturalism! Check out the cultural performances, music, and sample food from over 70 pavilions. Paddleboats and hydrobikes are also available to rent and enjoy taking out on the lake.

2) American Crown Circus | Aug 1–5 
A great event for the whole family as kids 10 and under get in for free! This circus features an international showcase of talent from Mexico, Belarus, Russia, Argentina, Romania, and the US. There will be strongman demonstrations by the Dragmir Troop, a laser light experience with Eduardo the Lazerman, circus clowns, and so much more. There will be two shows taking place in the Edmonton area: Aug 1–5 in St. Albert and Aug 8–12 at the Mill Woods Town Centre.

3) TELUS World of Science exhibits & shows
Check out an IMAX show and the exciting permanent exhibit galleries, including the hands-on Science Garage, the interactive CuriousCITY for children eight and under, and the new Nature Exchange gallery that features three areas for kids to explore and analyze natural artifacts. Plus, it’s the final weeks of the feature exhibit, MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition.

4) Blueberry Bluegrass & Country Music Festival | Aug 2-4
Head west of Edmonton for a celebration of roots music with legendary acts, ukulele workshops, jam sessions, family activities, and the licensed Blueberry Patio!

5) Sleuth| Through Aug 4
This play is a Tony Award-winning thriller that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. The premise involves a rich and successful mystery writer who lures his wife’s lover to his country house to take part in a scheme—but their power struggle descends into a sinister and deadly duel of wits. 6) Kristen Toomey | Through Aug 4
Performing at The Comic Strip in West Edmonton Mall, Kristen Toomey’s commanding stage presence, and expressive and truthful comedy style is sure to have you giggling. Enjoy great food and drink too while taking in the show.

7) Edmonton Prospects | Aug 1–3
This Thursday to Saturday the Edmonton Prospects are taking on Yorkton. Each game will be at 7:05 pm at the RE/MAX field. Grab a beer and cheer on the team with your buds or take the family out for an evening of good old-fashioned fun.
