Sure, Halloween is still a fair ways away, but like the best movie monsters, it’s creeping ever closer. All October long (and even at the tail end of September), you can find events both for little monsters and grown-up ghouls all across Edmonton. It’s no trick—these events are sure to be a treat!
1) Deadmonton | Sept. 24–Nov. 7
Enjoy two spine-chilling experiences at one of Edmonton’s most popular haunted houses! Watch reality itself twist around you in Warped, where space and time have become fractured and madness lurks just beyond. Outside, explore Dusk, a New Orleans-inspired cemetery—but be careful who (or WHAT) you bump into! Keep the creeps going with costumes and decor from the Deadmonton Halloween Store.
2) Haunted Pumpkin Festival | Weekends in October
Everyone is invited to enjoy some Halloween fun at Prairie Garden’s annual pumpkin festival! Find the perfect centrepiece or jack-o-lantern in their 15-acre pumpkin patch bursting with fruits of all shapes, sizes, and colours. In fact, Prairie Gardens is the northernmost place in the world to find blue pumpkins! Other activities include a pumpkin cannon, kid-friendly haunted house, carnival games, and much, much more. Kids in costumes get in FREE on Halloween weekend!
3) DARK | Oct. 7–31
Are you brave enough to discover what’s lurking in the dark? Fort Edmonton Park invites you to experience the horror of DARK, a haunted house experience that’s definitely not for the faint of heart. Outrun killer clowns, face the the terror of an out-of-control fungus, and fend off a bloodthirsty family warped by a demonic curse. Lots of food and beverage options will be available… after all, you can’t run for your life on an empty stomach. This event is recommended for guests age 14 and up.
4) Candlelight Halloween | Oct. 28, 29, & 31
Bask in a candlelit glow and listen to some of the most iconic horror themes of all time, performed by a classical string quartet in an intimate, haunting atmosphere. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for you to treat yourself during the performance. This concert is for attendees age 10 and older.
