Paints? Check. Brushes? Check. Endless ceramic possibilities? Double check. Crankpots Ceramic Studios has all the tools you need, and is just waiting for you to add your personal imaginative flair.

It’s the perfect place for some alone time, a date night, or even a stagette, corporate function, or children’s birthday. They also have various specials throughout the week, from reduced studio fees to buy-one-get-one-frees. All items are individually priced and range from about $10 to $100, so it’s great for any budget.

As a creative perfectionist, I find Crankpots both AMAZING and extremely stressful. The main (non)problem is that there are just so many options: mugs, plates, bowls, money banks, vases, ornaments, and so much more. Then, what do you put on it? The helpful studio has design books and stencils available, as well as finished pieces on display both for inspiration and to show how different colours and finishes will look. To cut down on stress (if you are similarly afflicted), come with an idea in mind! (Now’s the time to try out that Pinterest design!)

The most crucial rule is to, no matter what, paint each colour at least three times. If you lose count, paint it again just to be safe. And wait for the paint to dry in between coats, because otherwise it doesn’t really count. Nothing is as disappointing as getting back your creation and seeing transparent streaks (except maybe getting it back and then immediately dropping it).

And if you’re a slow painter, fret not! As I can personally attest, you have unlimited studio time to finish your beloved project, with no additional studio fees. Once you’re finished, it’s queued for glazing and firing and is usually ready in about a week. The glazes are non-toxic and lead-free and are thus safe for food, children, and pets.

Check out the Crankpots website for studio hours and deals!
