As ingrained as Chinese food has become in the holiday season, so has the Quon family and The Lingnan become ingrained in Edmonton’s food culture. First opened in 1947, they moved to their current, larger location in 1963 and have been famous for their array of Chinese and Chinese-Canadian favourites ever since. Most notable for the holidays are their availability for larger groups, family dining, and private parties.

What’s the best part of the holiday season for the restaurant?
Our restaurant specializes in large parties, so the best part is that you can host parties here and we will take care of everything. We can do set-menus or private parties; we are very flexible.

What’s the Quon family’s favourite part about the holidays in Edmonton?
Our favourite part is that we get to celebrate the holiday season with our family on December 25th, and it’s always great to see all of our customers during the holiday season as well. Edmonton is always so beautiful during the holiday season; you can’t help but be in the holiday mood. There are always many winter activities and many, many public and private places to see lights and holiday decorations. We like going to the Legislative Grounds, and we have been to GLOW at the EXPO Center.

What dishes do you recommend for groups dining out to celebrate?
If you were to dine in at The Lingnan, the must-try dishes are Dry Spicy Chicken, Szechuan Beef, and our hand-made green onion cakes. Luckily all our favourite and most popular dishes are on our weekend buffet [which runs every Friday to Sunday], which we would recommend for groups. We specialize in pick-up and delivery, especially large ones. We have set dinners as well, but you can always call us and we can design a menu specifically to your holiday needs!
