Come face-to-face with your favourite dinosaurs at Expedition: Dinosaur, on now at the TELUS World of Science!

As of Thursday, July 1st, TELUS World of Science—Edmonton has reopened to the public with all-new exhibits and experiences to enjoy!

Geologist Mary Anning, who is considered the ‘mother of paleontology’ for her discoveries of marine fossils along the English coast in the early 1800s, was on hand to answer guests’ questions at the opening of the Expedition: Dinosaur exhibit.

Get up close and personal with ancient giants with Expedition: Dinosaur, now open in the Feature Exhibition Gallery. This exhibit invites visitors both into the world of dinosaurs and into the world of the paleontologists across history who sought to uncover them. Trace the history of modern paleontology from the Bone Wars between Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh all the way up to modern-day paleontological techniques like CT scans and x-rays. Kids (and kids at heart) will love the many interactive elements of the exhibit. Bring an animatronic Carnotaurus to life with the push of a button, lift replica dinosaur eggs using a robotic arm, and learn about the physics of dinosaur behaviour with mechanical models. Other dinosaurs for you to discover include Pachycephalosaurus, Amargasaurus, Velociraptors, and many more.

For even more dinosaur action, be sure to catch Dinosaurs of Antarctica 3D at the IMAX Theatre. This film takes you beneath the ice and snow to the lush, tropical Antarctica of the Permian, Triassic, and Jurassic, as well as into the present day, as paleontologists, paleobotanists, and geologists make the long journey south to uncover the frozen continent’s secrets. Also currently open to the public is the Zeidler Dome Planetarium. Several shows are running this summer, including We are Stars, a whimsical look at the history of atoms and the universe itself, as well as Legends of the Northern Sky, which brings the traditional stories and wisdom of the Indigenous peoples in Western Canada to life in brilliant colour. Immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring Northern Lights with Aurorae, explore observatories at the edge of the world with Big Astronomy, and get your little ones started on their journey of space exploration with In My Backyard. Plus, for a limited time enjoy the return of Laser DAFT PUNK, combining the duo’s classic hits with a spectacular laser show.

Also currently open are the Galaxy Gift Shop, where you can pick up t-shorts, books, toys, and fun experiments to take home, as well as the piurpkle pear cafe, which is offering SDETAILS. More exhibits and galleries are set to open over the summer and into the fall. Look for the brand new health gallery and arctic galleries coming in Winter. Tickets for IMAX films and Expedition: Dinosaur must be purchased in advance through the TELUS World of Science website.
