2023 Women & Wealth Gala | March 4

Hosted by Women & Wealth Inc., this gala is designed to inspire and support women across Canada. Originally organized to address the gender gap in the financial sector, the Women & Wealth Gala has grown over the years to include female leaders in a variety of fields, including politics, education, and small business. The evening’s schedule includes music, a three-course meal, and inspirational speeches by featured guests like Jody Wilson–Raybould, and Knix founder and CEO Joanna Griffiths. There’s only a couple tickets left, so grab one while you can!

Arts Exchange: Elevating Women in the Arts | March 8

Join the Art Gallery of St. Albert for a discussion on elevating women in the arts. Exploring themes of inclusivity and inspiration, this talk will feature a panel including Helen Agbonison, founder of the Africans and African Descendents Friendship Club of St. Albert, Ellen Doty, jazz vocalist and community organizer, and Nisha Patel, the City of Edmonton’s former Poet Laureate. Following the discussion, participants will have the chance to explore the Gallery’s current exhibition Tethers and enjoy light snacks.

Films at the Library: The Woman King | March 8

The Woman King tells the amazing story of the Agojie, an all-female unit of warriors who served as protection for the African Kingdom of Dahomey in the 1800s. Follow this talented group of women as they prepare for a landmark battle against an enemy that threatens their way of life. Featuring EGOT winner Viola Davis, this film has received several awards nominations for directing, acting, and costume design. The Woman King will be screening as a part of the Edmonton Public Library’s Films at the Library series. Join them at the Stanley A. Milner branch at 6:30pm!

Women of Aviation Worldwide Week Celebration | March 11

The Alberta Aviation Museum will be celebrating the past, present, and future contributions of women in the aviation industry! This year is the 10th annual celebration held by the museum, which commemorates the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot license. Also designed to address the gender imbalance in the air and space industry, this celebration will include a career fair where you can meet experts in the industry and discover tons of exciting employment opportunities. Additionally, visitors are invited to explore the museum, where you can enjoy interactive activity booths and see inside rare historical aircrafts. This event is an educational and exciting way to celebrate the landmark contributions of women in aviation.

A woman’s Place | Until March 11

Only 10 more days to check out the latest exhibition at St. Albert’s Musée Héritage Museum! A Woman’s Place tells the crucial stories of women’s lives in regional communities. Through artifacts and photos, this exhibition highlights the landmark contributions of women, including their role in farming, caretaking, and community building.

Skirtsafire festival | March 2–12

Dedicated to uplifting the contributions of women and non-binary people in the arts, SkirtsAfire is the perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day. Along with their mainstage show The Space Between Stars, this festival includes comedy nights, cafe concerts, and so much more!
