March 8 is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of women in the community and around the world while fighting for a more equitable future for all. From history and the arts to local businesses and career paths, here’s how to celebrate all week long in Edmonton!

1) #BreakTheBias Mural at Kingsway Mall | Contest ends March 8th
There’s one more day to participate in Kingsway Mall’s International Women’s Day contest! Find the “Mujeres Divinas” mural on the second floor of Kingsway Mall by Unite by TMK; snap a pic of yourself in front of the mural and post it to Instagram, tagging @kingswaymall and using the hashtag #BreakTheBias. For every photo posted, Kingsway will donate $1 to WIN House Shelter, which has provided a refuge for those facing gender-based and domestic violence in Edmonton for over five decades. Plus by submitting a photo, you’ll have the chance to win one of 5 $100 Kingsway mall gift cards!

2) Women in Engineering | March 8
This one-hour virtual presentation from TELUS World of Science—Edmonton will introduce aspiring engineers to a panel of remarkable women working in the field! Have your questions answered and learn more about how women are making strides in this important and exciting industry. You can purchase your tickets on the TWoSE website.

3) A Cappella Catering X Italian Centre Shop International Women’s Week Boxed Lunch | Until March 11
Here’s a delicious way to support women in the community—A Cappella Catering has teamed up with the Italian Centre Shop to release a special three-course boxed lunch, featuring Greek salad, a turkey sandwich or roasted vegetable wrap, a fruit kebab, and a tiramisu cup. Part of the proceeds from every box sold will be donated to Women Building Futures, which offers programs to help women connect to higher-earning careers, as well as to organizations helping provide food security for women and their families in affordable housing programs. You can order by calling A Cappella Catering; both pickup and delivery are available.

4) Women of Aviation Worldwide Week Celebration | March 12
Celebrate the past, present, and future accomplishments of women in aviation at the Alberta Aviation Museum! This fun-filled day features a career fair, interactive activity booths, a flight simulator, and much more. Learn all about the aviation industry while celebrating the important achievements made by women in the field.

5) SkirtsAfire Festival | Until March 13
There’s still lots to enjoy at SkirtsAfire! Experience a variety of incredible performances by talented women and non-binary artists, including this year’s mainstage play, Ayita, as well as comedy nights, cafe concerts, and more.
