With a brand new name (formerly Capital Ex), some great new events, and non-stop action, K-Days running from July 19-28 is one summer festival that you don’t want to miss! The 10-day celebration kicks-off July 19 at 10 am with the K-Days Parade — the route starts at 99 street and 102 Ave. (click here for route map) and will feature a sea of beautiful floats, enthusiastic mascots, outstanding performers, and giant balloons!
Here’s a taste of what else is in store:
The South Grounds — Head to the south end of Northlands Park for this summer’s party destination! Here you will find the Boardwalk Beer Gardens, Rib Fest — featuring four world-class ribbers, beach volleyball, music, live Thoroughbred racing and the brand new Koodonation headliner stage. By day, the stage will feature live hypnotists, mentalists, cover bands and more, while by night you can catch performances by popular stars like Down With Webster, Classified, Burton Cummings and Carly Rae Jespen.
Klondike Park — Formally Bonanza Park, this spot is where you can be reunited with the beloved Klondike Kate, Klondike Mike, and the Klondike Express — an old-time locomotive with a whole lot of history. Gold Panning has also returned to K-Days, so grab a pan and try your luck at uncovering gold! If you’re itching to bust out your bonnets and bow ties, come down in your Klondike best on Sunday, July 28 for the ultimate blast from the past experience—Klondike Day at K-Days.
Sports Hall — Celebrate cold weather fun at this new addition to K-Days that will highlight our undying love for hockey, and bring back to life the excitement of the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games through exhibits presented by the Alberta and Canadian Sports Hall of Fame. Hone your skills with interactive hockey games, or check out the marketplace where you will find all of the sports merchandise you could possible dream of (and more!).
Food, Food, and Food! — Whether it’s deep-fried on a stick, grilled to perfection, or a baked delicacy, K-Days has it! On top of the traditional midway fare (we ALL love our mini donuts), there are also gourmet offerings for the city’s foodies to drool over. Inside the Edmonton EXPO Centre, you will find A Taste of Canada featuring a diverse, mouth-watering selection of food, beer, and wine from all across the country. If you are looking for something a little more exotic, head to The Grand’s international food court where almost every flavour from across the globe is waiting to satisfy your taste buds!
Of course, on top of all this are the exhilarating rides, entertaining midway, and impressive nightly fireworks! Gate admission is Adult (13-59) $14, Youth (7-12) $10, Seniors (60+) $7, and Children under 6 are free. Ride all day passes are $45, and individual ride tickets are $1 each. See you there!
