This August, come out and have fun—and a few drinks!—while supporting the ever-talented Canadian artists performing in the quaint live music venues in Edmonton!

Palaye Royale with the Desparado Pilots
August 8 | Mercury Room
Palaye Royale is known for mixing art, fashion, and music on stage with their fast-paced rock’n roll jams. The trio of brothers released a full-length album titled Boom Boom Room in 2016, and they will be playing at the Mercury Room with Edmonton’s Desperado Pilots.

YEG MUSIC PRESENTS: Krissy Feniak, Birch Island, Greg David & Benjamin Williams
August 10 | Cafe Blackbird
YEG Music is an artist development company with a mission to support and promote local music in Edmonton. At this four-person showcase, you’ll find musical stylings ranging from folk to country to pop/rock.

VNV Nation with Ivardensphere
August 11 | The Starlite Room
“Victory not Vengeance” is the meaning behind the acronym of this alt-electronic band. The Irish and English duo have an energy on stage that the audience will find addicting as they play an array of different styles from haunting ballads to indie-electronic beats. The opening set is Edmonton’s Ivardensphere.

Dempsey Bolton
August 11 | The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse
Influenced by the stylings of John Mayer and Allen Stone, this Edmonton-born singer-songwriter has an R&B/soul vibe that captures audience’s attention. His honest lyrics and skillful guitar work has made him an up-and-comer to watch for in the Edmonton music scene.

August 16 | The Needle Vinyl Tavern
Inspired by the whimsical stylings of Florence + The Machine and Ingrid Michaelson, this Calgary-born songstress has released a self-titled album that is powerfully passionate while still being quirky and unique. Be prepared to be drawn in by her musical storytelling and resonating voice.

Marissa Karpiak
August 18 | The Carrot Community Art Coffeehouse
This Edmonton singer-songwriter has performed on many of Edmonton’s main stages, such as the Winspear and the Jubilee Auditorium. Similar to talents like Sara Bareilles and Vanessa Carlton, Karpiak focuses on storytelling in her music and draws inspiration from her dance and theatre background.

Koreen Perry
August 18 | The Needle Vinyl Tavern
This Edmonton-born, Shania Twain-style singer-songwriter often performs live acoustic or with her band’s accompaniment. She’s recently released her second album, a 5-song EP titled Evolved, and it features a mix of country-pop and folk-pop music.

Tymo CD Release with Mortillery, Among The Shattered, and Dayshift Strippers
August 19 | Forge on Whyte
Tymo is a Edmonton-based thrash metal band founded in 2015. At this event, their second album, Purge and Reset, will be released for the first time. Supporting acts include local metal bands, Mortillery, Among The Shattered, and Dayshift Strippers.

Charlie Jacobson
August 21-22 | Blues on Whyte
This bluesy guitarist began recording songs at the age of 12 (on a 4-track tape recorder) and in 2015 he released his first full-length album titled Alberta Flood. Jacobson is currently on a Canadian tour of his latest album, Travelin.

The Agonist with Juliet Ruin and Forsaken Rite
August 23 | The Brixx Bar & Grill
This five-handed Montreal band has released five full-length albums and, over the years, they have made a respectable name for themselves in the Canadian metal music scene. With a growing fanbase, the band is set to tour all over Canada this August. Edmonton’s Juliet Ruin and Forsaken Rite will open the stage.

Dylan Wickens and The Grand Naturals
August 23-27 | Blues On Whyte
This band has a modern take on traditional blues music, incorporating soulful guitar work with gritty and urgent vocals. The trios newest album, Hi Lo-Fi, features songs that are meaningful, raw, and altogether original in the genre.

The Royal Foundry with Two Bears North & Upper Lakes
August 24 | The Needle Vinyl Tavern
The Royal Foundry began as a folk duo but quickly found its steam as an alt-pop quartet. Their hit song “Running Away” has been featured on TSN as the CFL’s opening song and is currently #22 on Alt-Rock stations across Canada. Edmonton’s own Two Bears North and Upper Lakes will be the supporting acts.

Jenie Thai/ VISSIA/ Lyra Brown
August 25 | Blue Chair Cafe
Enjoy a glass of wine and delicious food in this cozy cafe as three local Edmonton singer-songwriters come together for a night of music. At this intimate event, you will experience an evening of indie-pop jams and soulful blues songs.

Lisa Nicole Grace
August 25 | The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse
Lisa Nicole Grace’s newest album, Tree of Life, mixes jazz and contemporary pop with heartfelt lyrics and graceful melodies. Reminiscent of Sheryl Crow and Jann Arden, the singer-songwriter’s inviting music is calm and heartfelt and resonates with its audience.

Carrie Day
August 27 | The Needle Vinyl Tavern
At the age of 10, Carrie Day taught herself how to play and read music on an old organ piano and later, in 2014, she was nominated for the Edmonton Music Awards Female Artist of the Year. Today, she’s a well-established folk/singer-songwriter in Edmonton and has produced four albums to date.
