Edmonton welcomes the world from June 6 – July 5  with eleven games playing at Commonwealth Stadium  for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015! Meet some of the world-class athletes on Team Canada:

Christine Sinclair

Position Forward
A household name to soccer fans throughout the world, and the captain of Team Canada, Christine Sinclair has represented Canada in more than 220 games — her first at the age of 16 — scoring more than 150 goals! She has participated in three FIFA Women’s World Cups, two Olympic Football Tournaments (she served as Canada’s flag bearer at the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremonies), and in 2012 won the Lou Marsh Trophy as Canada’s athlete of the year. Sinclair is known for being an intelligent player and incredibly hard working. Teammate Danielle Foxhoven describes her as “a beast athletically: she’s fast, she’s big, she’s tall, she’s strong, but she thinks. She thinks on another level.”

Erin Mcleod
Birthplace St. Albert, Alta.
DOB 1983-02-26
Position Goalkeeper
Team Canada’s fierce, and talented starting goalkeeper was just four years old when she first started playing soccer in St. Albert. She was 19 when she made her debut for Canada and since then has participated in three FIFA Women’s World Cups and two Olympic Football Tournaments. Not only an impressive world-class athlete, McLeod is also a talented artist and public speaker!

Stephanie Labbé
Birthplace Edmonton, Alta.
DOB 1986-10-10
Position Goalkeeper
The talented Stephanie Labbé was just 12 years old when she started playing soccer for the Spruce Grove Saints, and made her debut for Canada when she was 21. She finished fifth with Canada at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Thailand 2004, and represented Canada at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Russia 2006 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011.

Selena Iacchelli
Birthplace Edmonton, Alta.
DOB 1986-06-05
Position F, CM, M
A force on the field, Selenia Iacchelli was 27 years old when she made her debut for Canada, and has won a silver medal with Canada at the XIV Pan American Games Santo Domingo 2003, finished fifth with Canada at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Thailand 2004, and represented Canada at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Russia 2006.
