April 23, 2014 marks what would have been William Shakespeare’s 450th Birthday! 450 years after the bard was born, his insightful tragedies and comedies are still being performed, quoted, re-imagined, and studied around the world. In fact, one of English literature’s most famous writers is still inspiring theatre troupes in Edmonton!
The Citadel Theatre’s production of Romeo and Juliet — featuring a raved-about performance by Jamie Cavanagh as Mercutio — will be performed through April 27, 2014.
Thou Art Here Theatre will be putting their own twist on the comedy Much Ado About Nothing May 8 – May 16 — performing it in the historic Rutherford House!
The Freewill Shakespeare Festival — Edmonton’s annual festival dedicated to showcasing the bard’s works — will be presenting The Taming of the Shrew July 9 – 27, 2014.
