Smac & Cheese will be serving up one of Canada’s favourite foods at Taste of Edmonton 2022! Here’s more about this cheesy & delicious dish.
Whether it’s noodles with a bright orange sauce or your mother’s lovingly made casserole complete with homemade bechamel and breadcrumbs, macaroni and cheese is a dish that gets a lot of love.
This dish was brought to Canada in 1845 by British settlers and coincided perfectly with the rise of Canadian cheddar cheese. Today, Canadians eat 55 percent more Kraft Dinner than Americans, with some claiming that KD should be Canada’s national dish. Every summer, food festivals seem to serve wacky variations, including Butter Chicken Mac & Cheese and even a booth at Taste of Edmonton dedicated to its honour!
For KD lovers, booth 5 will be offering Mac & Cheese in a Waffle Cup or Mac & Cheese Bites. They will also be serving Soft Pretzel Bites. So make sure to check out Smac & Cheese at this year’s festival!
