For Women Who Roar | Until Apr. 30

A new exhibition at the Art Gallery of St. AlbertFor Women Who Roar, amplifies and empowers women. The artist, Shana Wilson, is on a mission to claim space for women of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. She has painted some of the trailblazing women in history that have been responsible for political and social change. These subjects include Dorothy Pitman-Hughes, Gloria Steinem, Anita Hill, Buffy Sainte Marie, and Jamie Salé. Her inner drive as an artist ignited during the #metoo and #timesup movements. She channelled her anger, frustration, and sadness over the mistreatment and marginalization of girls and women and made art that honours the power and agency of women. The exhibition also has special events like a virtual artist talk and tours with the curator. You can register for these special events online to reserve a spot.
