Northern Lights Theatre presents a tale of gothic thrills in We Had a Girl Before You‘s final weekend

The weekend is finally here, which means that Edmonton is gearing up for some unforgettable events. From music, to dining, to the stage, we’re bringing you five ways to get out of the house and into the sights and sounds of the city! So shake off the stresses of the week and enjoy yourself with these YEG attractions

1) Final Weekend of We Had a Girl Before You
Thrills unfold on stage at Northern Lights Theatre as Edwina “Weenie” Trout navigates the dangers of the peculiar Whisham Family and their suspiciously high turnover of servant girls. Witness Kristin Johnson’s enthralling performance as she survives (or doesn’t survive) this gothic tale.

2) Westin Edmonton Experiential Night Out | Nov 20
Entertain a loved one this weekend with a luxurious night out at the Westin. After the three course dinner for two and the chocolate tasting presentation, kick back for the night in a guest room with a complimentary bottle of wine. After this much relaxation, you’ll be wishing that Monday didn’t have to come so soon.

3) Brahms & McPherson | Nov 20-21
At this point in 2020, we all need a reason to get dressed up and hit the town. Treat yourself to ESO’s performance of Brahms & McPherson led by Robert Uchida as they combine two musical masterpieces, featuring Johannes Brahms’ G Major Sextet and John McPherson’s Concerto for Two Horns.

4) NOSH Food Fest | Nov 21
Hungry? So are we. Join us at the NOSH Food Fest, where you can expect over 100 food vendors to please your palate whether you’re craving cookies, cotton candy, or something savoury. With this kind of selection, it’s hard not to bring a plate and go nuts (we won’t judge).

5) Opening weekend of Laser U2
TELUS World of Science returns with another dazzling display of the musical history behind one of the world’s most prolific bands, lit up with a laser display like no other. Watch as the Zeidler Dome dances with visual spectacles documenting U2’s discography, bringing the band’s music library to a whole new level.

6) Opening weekend of Magic of Lights
Pack the whole family into the warm car and cruise through two-kilometres of LED displays for Castrol Raceway’s annual holiday light celebration.

7) Kingsway Holiday Drive-thru Parade | Nov 21
Businesses are decorating the Kingsway service road with some holiday cheer, and you get to enjoy it from the comfort and warmth of your car. Proceeds go in support of the Edmonton Food Bank!

8) Alberta Avenue Christmas Market | Nov 21
The annual Alberta Avenue Christmas Market focuses on local vendors who make it, bake it, or create it. You can find art, jewelry, food vendors, home decor, fashion, and everything in between.
