No matter what the weather is like, May long weekend is always a sure sign of spring in the city! Here are some things to do in Edmonton May Long Weekend, May 20–23, 2022:

1) Summer attractions open!
This particular long weekend often marks the opening of several seasonal attractions, including Fort Edmonton Park and Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, as well as several feature events. Other favourite attractions that opened earlier this month include Jurassic Forest and the University of Alberta Botanic Garden. Get outside, learn something new, and explore beyond!

Feature events at attractions this weekend include the Multicultural Heritage Centre’s free Kick-off-to-summer event on May 21 and the UCHV’s Celebration of Dance on May 23.

2) The LEGO Batman Movie | May 21 @ 1 pm
As part of the Metro Cinema’s Reel Family Cinema series, children 12 and under receive free admission to this screening! This animated action-adventure from 2017 is a spin-off of the first LEGO Movie, now focusing on the DC Comics Universe with comedian Will Arnett reprising his role as the voice of Lego Batman.

3) Ice Wars | May 21
When your favourite part of hockey games is the fighting, you get boxing on ice skates. Are you ready for this revolutionary combat sport?

4) Soul Search’s Patio Day Party | May 22
Another summer kick-off, this time in the form of patios, DJs, and food trucks! This 18+ event is a partnership between Soul Search Canada and The Backyard. Ticket sales end May 21.

5) Patriarchy, in concert | May 22
If all this sun and summer talk has you craving a bit more darkness, check out this Dark Wave + Goth concert at the Starlite Room. LA’s Patriarchy will be joined by London-based M!R!M! and Vancouver’s Subterranean Lovers for one night only.

6) ‘Battle of Alberta’ NHL Playoffs | May 20 & 22
For the first time since 1991, the famous provincial rivalry is reignited for the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs! It’s the Edmonton Oilers vs. the Calgary Flames in Round 2. On May 20, check out the Ice District viewing party or one of the many bars or restaurants showing the Away game, or try your luck ice-side at Rogers Place on May 22.
