We’ve made it to the long weekend, and there’s so much to be thankful for! For one, many Edmonton groups and businesses are doing their best to provide safe, fun experiences so we can still make the most of the weekend. From dog parks to big-screen movies to amusement parks, there’s something for everyone.
1) Dog Days at the Garden | Oct 9-12
At the end of every season, the University of Alberta Botanic Garden opens its grounds for furry guests! Humans must book their tickets online, but then you all get to stroll the gorgeous gardens together—dogs attached via leash, of course.
2) Harry Potter & the Sorceror’s Stone on the IMAX screen | through Oct 10
It’s the opening weekend of the TELUS World of Science movie marathon! Til November 14, you have the chance to watch the first three films of the Harry Potter franchise in the IMAX theatre. This weekend is Harry Potter & the Sorceror’s Stone.
3) West Edmonton Mall‘s Galaxyland reopens
You can ride the rides at Galaxyland again! The amusement park is operating at a reduced capacity, is honouring social distancing measures, and has added several sanitizing stations.
4) Final weekend of the Edmonton International Film Festival | through Oct 10
This year includes 30 feature-length dramas and documentaries + 22 short film programs that will all screen at Landmark Cinemas 9 City Centre.
5) Holiday festivities!
In case you missed it, we’ve outlined stellar Edmonton restaurants offering delectable dine-in and take-home Thanksgiving dinner menus this weekend, as well as Halloween attractions and events that are happening all October long.
