This weekend in Edmonton includes theatre, art installations, great local food, and more.

1) A Taste of Al Fresco | March 27–28
Celebrate Downtown and the end of winter with extended patios, food and drink specials, art installations, window concerts, and more.

2) Chinook Series | March 25–April 4
Enjoy contemporary performances, engaging workshops, and thought-provoking salons made possible by the collaborative efforts of Expanse Festival, Fringe Theatre, and Sound Off Deaf Theatre Festival. Both livestream and on-demand options are available! This weekend includes Moon Speakers, an open stage for First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Female/Femme/Two Spirit+ identifying artists and people to gather, express, and release through poetry, dance, song, and storytelling.

3) wâpos exhibit | March 25–April 3
This free outdoor art installation was created by artist Jason Carter and features sculpture, lights, nature sounds, and a self-guided storyline. Registration for this event is free! Pre-booked tickets are valid for 15-minute entry.

4) Northern Light Theatre’s THE LOOK
In celebration of World Theatre Day (March 27), NLT is having a digital holdover of THE LOOK. The original “Estelle Girl” of the Estelle Cosmetics line, Marilyn is coping with life as an aged-out supermodel.

5) UofA Studio Theatre’s Don Juan Comes Back From War | March 26-28
The University of Alberta’s Drama Department presents a digital version of this production. Don Juan, the legendary womanizer, returns home from war to face a pandemic and the multiple women he’s wronged in his life.

6) Re-opening weekend of Edmonton Valley Zoo
After a temporary closure due to COVID regulations, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is ready to welcome visitors once again—as well as the animals’ new spring babies. You can visit the outdoor exhibits with a timed-entry, pre-booked ticket.

7) Eats on 118 Ave | til March 31
For the month of March, you can enjoy dine-in special and take-out specials at various spots along Alberta Avenue (118 Ave.). Special menus include jerk chicken from Flava Cafe, green onions cakes from Green Onion Cake Man, cheddar bannock donair from Tee Pee Treats Indigenous Cuisine, and more.
