The long weekend is finally here! How will you spend it? Here’s what’s on this weekend in Edmonton.

Family Day Events | Various

Spend some quality time with your loved ones this weekend! There’s events taking place all over the city, including free admission to the Royal Alberta Museum and the Art Gallery of Alberta. There’s also family–friendly activities at the Legislature, TELUS World of Science, and Edmonton Public Libraries. More information is included in our round-up, which can be found here.

5 Artists 1 love | On until April 2

Head down to the Art Gallery of Alberta to celebrate Black History Month! This exhibition features both emerging and establishes African-Canadian artists from Edmonton. Explore art, design, and music that showcases the vibrant artistic range of the African diaspora. 5 Artists 1 Love is celebrating its 17th year, so make sure to check out this amazing exhibition!

Jersey Boys & The Royale | Various

Looking to be transported to another world through theatre? The Citadel Theatre has got you covered! This weekend is your last chance to catch The Royale, a stunning show based on the first Black heavyweight world champion. You can read more about this show here!

Also on at the Citadel this weekend is Jersey Boys, which tells the story of famous band The Four Seasons! Enjoy a larger-than-life story and hear classics hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Walk Like a Man.”

Cabinet of Curiosities Night Market | February 18

Calling all night owls! Head down to the Alberta Aviation Museum for the Cabinet of Curiosities Night Market. This event will feature 85 vendors selling unique alternative creations. It will run from 7:00pm–11:00pm, entry is free.

Alice in wonderland | February 17–20

The Festival Players for Kids is providing fun for the whole family this weekend! Staging an exciting musical version of Lewis Carroll’s famous story, this show will feature a talented cast of local children. Follow Alice as she encounters vibrant character like the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts.

Silver skate | February 17–20

This weekend is your last chance to check out Edmonton’s longest-running winter festival! Head down to Hawrelak Park to explore art installations, fire sculptures, fat bike demos, and skate races! While you’re there, make sure to check out the International Festival of Winter Cinema, who will be screening selected short and feature length films about all things winter! Silver Skate will be the last event to take place in Hawrelak Park before the upcoming renovations. Don’t miss out on any of the action!

Edmonton Downtown Farmer’ Market | February 18–19

Every day is Family Day at the Edmonton Downtown Farmers’ Market! This weekend they will be hosting drop-in drawing and craft classes, face painting, and a Caricature artist. Looking to de-stress? They will also be hosting yoga and massage therapy! Plus, join them for Student Discount Sundays, where any student with valid ID can check out a variety of discounts at participating booths. This market is a great opportunity to support local business while stocking up on all the essentials.

Feed the soul Dining Week | February 17

Today is your last chance to check out Feed the Soul Dining week! Delight in delicious deals from Black-owned businesses in Edmonton. Over 15 different businesses are participating in this event, including El Beso, Café Caribbean, Flava Café, and more. Want to support this event but feel like staying in? There’s some exclusive online vendors participating, including Token Bitters and Olympia Ethiopia Restaurant.
