Slipknot | Apr. 15

Edmonton! Get ready for some heavy metal action at Rogers Place this Friday. Slipknot will bring all the thrill to the stage at their Knotfest Roadshow Tour, with featured special guests, In This Moment and Jinjer. This tour comes after their 2021 tour sold out arenas across the country, the same record-breaking year they debuted The Chapeltown Rag. Tickets are available online.

Rise Against w/ special guests Pennywise and Rotting Out | Apr. 17

Nowhere else can you see Rise Against’s Nowhere Generation Tour than at the Edmonton Convention Centre this Sunday! This tour celebrates their 2021 album, Nowhere Generation, which saw its title track at #1 on various Rock charts. They’ll be joined by special guests, Pennywise and Rotting Out. Don’t miss it! Classic Albums Live: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club | Apr. 17

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the Beatles. And guess what? It’s over 50 years old. Wow, does time fly. Classic Albums Live will honour this legendary album at Festival Place this weekend, performing the album with impeccable precision. It will be like transporting back in time. Mamma Mia! | Apr. 12–Jun. 12

Mamma Mia! All of ABBA’s classics, all our favourite characters, AND a tasty dinner? Yes, please! Bring yourself to paradise as you follow Sophie, a bride-to-be, in her quest to learn who her father is. There are three possibilities, but the answer is not the clear one she hopes for. Sing along to all of ABBA’s hits, including Dancing Queen, Take a Chance On Me, and SOS, as you witness an enthralling tale of laughter, love, friendship, and family. Caribbean Muskrat | Until Apr. 17

Teatro La Quindicina is back at the Varscona Theatre for its 40th anniversary! A line-up of classic Teatro shows has been put together to celebrate this 40-year milestone. First in the line is Caribbean Muskrat, commissioned originally by Calgary’s High-Performance Rodeo and the Edmonton Comedy Festival and first performed in 2003. It tells the story of a rare aquatic rodent in Kelowna initiating a love triangle between a customs agent, sleep clinician and restaurateur. Caribbean Muscrat runs until April 17 at the Varscona Theatre. Tickets are available online.

The Power of The Drum | Until Apr. 17

The Power of the Drum pays tribute to the drums that were taken away when Africans were enslaved by the Spanish. These drums hold power. They reflect the resilience, creativity, and autonomy of the Cuban Diaspora. The Power of The Drum affirms Afro-Cuban identity by sharing Afro-Cuban arts and culture. Audiences can prepare to be captivated by the drumming, dancing, and glorious sounds. The show runs until April 17 at the Westbury Theatre at the ATB Financial Arts Barns. SPECIAL EVENTS

EIFF Fundraiser for Ukraine | Apr. 16

Film lovers are invited to the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) for a reception and film screening of They Who Surround Us, the 2020 EIFF Audience Award winner for Best Dramatic Feature. The reception will start at 6 pm, hosted by May Restaurant and Prairie Catering, followed by a 7 pm film screening in the Ledcor Theatre. Troy Ruptash, the writer, director, and star of the film will be in attendance for a live Q&A after the screening. Each ticket is $100, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Cobblestone Freeway Support Ukraine Foundation.
