Rapid Fire Theatre ramps up their annual Bonfire Improv Festival this weekend!

This weekend includes online films, livestream theatre, outdoor art, and more. Be safe and support local! Check out what’s on in Edmonton.

1) Bonfire Improv Festival | Apr 9-10
This annual festival from Edmonton’s Rapid Fire Theatre presents all-new wild improv ideas they’ve never tried before. Four different livestream performances are playing this weekend!

2) 2021 OSCAR-nominated Short Films (presented by EIFF) | all through April
The Edmonton International Film Festival presents the 2021 OSCAR-nominated short film collections in three categories: Animation, Live Action, and Documentary. Available to watch online by category or as a bundle package!

3) Edmonton Ghost Tours in Old Strathcona | Weds–Sats
Spring dates are available to learn about the haunted histories in Old Strathcona! This outdoor walking tour allows for physical distancing.

4) Stream the Citadel Theatre’s production of Mary’s Wedding: A Métis Love Story
This Métis retelling of the Canadian classic is available on streaming video! Witness a love like no other from the Alberta prairies to the battlegrounds of World War I. The age guidelines is 10+ for this at-home theatrical experience from The Citadel Theatre.

5) Pick up delicious snacks & watch TWOSE’s amazing IMAX films at home
Watch a selection of IMAX documentary films, now available for video on demand. For only $1.30 CDN, you can rent one of their popular films for 72 hours. Film selection includes Dinosaurs Alive, Wild Ocean, Wonders of the Arctic, and Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs. If you plan well enough in advance, you can also add a Reception Box to your movie ticket (all orders must be placed by 9 am the day prior to showtime.)

6) Edmonton Oilers vs Ottawa Senators | April 9
On Friday, the Oilers take on the Ottawa Senators. Some Edmonton restaurants have game-day deals, and you can participate in the EOCF’s 50/50 raffle online.

7) Arts District Animation | starts April 8
Head to the downtown Arts District for family-friendly digital experiences displayed on the Winspear Centre (starting April 8) and Citadel Theatre (starting April 10). These displays will feature the work of local artists.
