1) The Science of Sex | Feb 20
Log on early for Happy Hour with DJ Thomas Culture, then enjoy a range of provocative speakers. The virtual series includes “Love in the time of COVID,” “The Human Penis: Learn the Ups & Downs,” and “The Science of Striptease.” This is an 18+ event.
2) Threads That Connect exhibit | through Mar 20
This new exhibition through the Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts highlights the legacy of Ukrainian embroidery and weaving, and how it connected generations of Ukrainian culture. Pieces on display include costumes from previous Shumka productions, curated personal clothing, and various working looms. This is a free exhibit that allows walk-ins, though the gallery is limited to 6 people at a time as per COVID-19 regulations.
3) Silver Skate Festival | through Feb 21
Create your own winter experience with DIY winter-friendly experiences and challenges. See how fast you can skate Silver Skate’s traditional 1km race loop on the pond, explore the river valley, visit this year’s Heritage Village installation, and more.
4) Sweet Treats & Latte Festival | through Mar 14
This new culinary festival in Old Strathcona highlights its amazing coffee shops and bakeries. Purchase a feature hot drink or sweet treat at one of the 13 different businesses—and vote for your favourites!
5) Ice on Whyte Sculpture Tour | through Feb 28
Take yourself on a self-guided ice sculpture tour and stop in at one of their restaurant partners for a tasty treat. They have the ice sculpture locations on a Google map for easy navigation.
