With Alberta moving to Stage 2 of its Open for Summer Plan, many beloved events and attractions have opened up to the public once more, along with some amazing virtual events that bring the excitement home. Here’s what’s on in Edmonton this weekend!

1) The Comic Strip Triple Feature | June 11–13
The Comic Strip is open to the public again, bringing you some of Edmonton’s funniest comedians and freshest talents. This opening weekend show, featuring Charles Haycock, Will Hannigan, and Adam Blank, is guaranteed to get the good times—and the laughs—rolling.

2) Al Fresco on 4th | Starts June 12
It’s a summer extravaganza every Saturday as the 4th Street Promenade on 104th Street becomes a vibrant collage of extended patios, food trucks, local vendors, and live entertainment. Al Fresco on 4th runs Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm.

3) Queer Youth Prom 2021 | June 12
2SLGBTQIA+ youth and their close allies are invited for a spectacular virtual party featuring drag, poetry, special guests, and, of course, dancing! Connect with others in the community, learn about valuable supports and resources available for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in Edmonton, and enjoy the party of the year!

4) Indigenous Art Adventures with Lance Cardinal | June 12
Kids will love making a beautiful Star Blanket Sun Catcher while learning Cree words and singing songs with artist and TV personality Lance Cardinal. Learn more and register for this free, family-friendly livestream through Eventbrite.

5) Métis Mutt | June 12
Métis Mutt is a comedic, heartbreaking and unpredictable performance piece that recounts the journey of a young Métis man finding his way out of a destructive cycle. Storytelling, stand-up comedy, music, and multi-character vignettes come together to expose the impact of family dysfunction, internalized racism and spiritual growth in this Sterling Award Winner for New Work and Performance. Streaming tickets are free and can be found on the L’UniThéâtre website.

6) Day of African and Caribbean Dance | June 12
Get your groove on with three traditional and contemporary Afro-fusion and Caribbean dance workshops! This event is free for all participants; you can register for  through the Eastwood Community League website.

7) over and over, again and again by Andrew Testa & Thirst Trap by Haylee Fortin | Begins June 12
Two new exhibitions have made their home at the SNAP Gallery from June 12 to July 17. over and over, again and again explores the possibilities of communication with the other-than-human, while Thirst Trap is a deep dive into the disconnect and connections found between artist Haylee Fortin and the hunting community she has engaged with over the past several years. Viewing is free and by appointment only, and can be booked through the SNAP gallery website.

8) Motorcycle Track Attack Days | June 12–14
Looking to get into motorcycling or hone your skills? Enjoy the ride on an open track with none of the hazards of street riding and all of the safety of a closed course. Options are available for everyone from novice riders to experts, as well as spectators. More dates and event registration are available on the Track Attacks website.

9) Gins in June | June 14
Join Aligra Wine & Spirits for their third virtual gin tasting class! This week, the tasting session is all about berries, with four gins to try. Learn how to make delicious cocktails and gain expert insight from Aligra’s Whisky Ambassador, Jennifer Owen. The registration fee covers all four gins along with some tasty accompaniments.
