Markets and hockey and homewares, oh my! Get ready for another weekend packed with Edmonton events!


Oilers Game & Ice District Plaza Opening | October 15

Cheer on the home team when the Oilers face off against the Calgary Flames this weekend. Grab a ticket to witness the action live from Rogers Place or join the Ice District for their grand opening watch party! This event will also feature all your favourites: food trucks, family activities, and more. There’s no better way to celebrate the beginning of hockey season!

YEG Artisan Market | October 14 – 16

Edmonton Downtown Farmers’ Market is one of our favourite spots and this weekend they are hosting an artisan market! Browse the works of 35 different artists and celebrate Edmonton’s local art scene. Make sure to also check out the permanent vendors for some fresh produce and other local goods!

Litfest | October 13 – 23

Did you know Edmonton is home to Canada’s only creative nonfiction festival? Celebrate the literary arts with a selections of panels, masterclasses, and readings! Head down to the Metro Cinema on Sunday October 16 to hear more from award-winning journalist Brandi Morin, as she shares more about her debut memoir Our Voice of Fire. Or laugh along to beloved stand-up comedian Ali Hassan with his newest book Is There Bacon in Heaven?. Others events this weekend include a masterclass from recent Governor General finalist Rowan McCandless and a film screening from Edmonton’s own Jason Purcell! Edmonton Fall Home Show | October 14 – 16

Have you got the itch to redecorate? You’re in luck! Browse over 150 booths of home-related products and services this weekend at the Edmonton Fall Home Show. From home décor to landscaping, there’s something at this show for everyone. On top of homewares, you can also shop curated selections of vintage items with the Curate Vintage Market by Tipsy Palm or find the perfect accessories at the Make It! Pop Up Market. Plus, there’s tons of show specials to explore!

Edmonton Short Film Festival | October 15 – 16

The ESFF is celebrating their 10th anniversary! Complete with a red carpet gala and some of the most exciting new releases from Albertan filmmakers, this event is a celebration of all things film. They are also offering unique viewing opportunities with the use of VR headsets!

Can’t make it on Saturday or Sunday? ESFF is also hosting a comedy night with Howie Miller! Check it out on Friday October 14 at Pure Casino Yellowhead.

Weasel | October 13 – 22

Join University of Alberta Studio Theatre for the world premiere of Weasel. Written by U of A’s Playwright in Residence Beth Graham, this play is about “the search for truth, the pursuit of ambition, and the cost of pretending everything is fine.”

Thousand Faces Festival: Myth Country Fair | October 14 – 15

This unique festival has been celebrating Edmonton’s diversity through arts and food for 10 years! Head down to the Alberta Avenue Community League for mythic artistic performances, family activities, storytelling, and so much more!

Ballet Edmonton’s remeo | October 14 – 15

Join Ballet Edmonton for their season opener at the Triffo Theatre! This contemporary dance group will wow audiences with new original works from emerging choreographer Diego Ramalho, Alberta-born Shay Kuebler, and artistic director Wen Wei Wang.

Oktoberfest presented by Edmonton Recital Society | October 16

Celebrate Oktoberfest with some of the best brass musicians in the city! Featuring musicians from the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Recital Society is excited to be back with a full season of performances.
