Arctic Journey Grand Opening | September 17 – 18

TELUS World of Science is celebrating the opening of their newest exhibit, Arctic Journey. As the final phase of The Aurora Project, this new addition invites visitors to experience all the sights and sounds of the Arctic through a variety of immersive visual and sound experiences. Board an Inuit dogsled, discover the secrets of icebergs, and learn how to safely navigate the ice with an Inuk hunter. There’s so much to learn about the landscape, animals, and people of the Canadian North, so make sure to check out TELUS World of Science this weekend!

There will also be tons of grand opening festivities including free lab coats for the first 65 children aged under 6. Plus free glitter tattoos, treats, and games from 11:00am – 2:00pm.

Kaleido Festival | September 16 – 18

Share the love with Arts on the Ave and Kaleido Festival! With lots of free & family-friendly activities, this festival is focused on making art accessible and fun for everyone. This year, they will have 10 stages packed with performances, as well as street performers and an artisan market. Featuring performances from artists like Martin Kerr, Birds of Bellwoods, and Shred Kelly, there will be tons of tunes for dancing. As well, there will be other community arts activities like a lantern parade and live mural painting.

Also make sure to check out the Local Heroes Film Festival presented by the Edmonton Short Film Festival, where they will be showing a curated lineup of short films by Alberta filmmakers!

Network | September 17 – October 9

The Citadel Theatre launches their 2022/23 season this Saturday! Network is a timely and thrilling high-tech satire that explores our relationship to media. Follow news anchorman Howard Beale and fictional network UBS as they navigate failing ratings and find success in unconventional places. This award-winning play uses technology and visual devices to offer an unforgettable performance.

FC Edmonton | September 17

Cheer on the home team! FC Edmonton takes on the Calgary Cavalry on Saturday at Clarke Stadium. The season is beginning to wind down with only three more home games, so don’t miss out on seeing Edmonton’s world-renowned soccer team in action.

Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo | September 16 – 18

Edmonton’s favourite celebration of fandom is back! Explore over 300 vendors and attend workshops, celebrity signings, and Q&As. This year’s guests include Star Trek‘s William Shatner, Lana Parrilla from Once Upon a Time, and The Incredible Hulk‘s Lou Ferrigno. There will also be cosplayers roaming the grounds so don’t miss snapping a picture with your favourite superhero.
