Fraser Brinsmead is an urban realist whose paintings explore all aspects of daily life, especially as they occur in the vibrant cityscape. The persistent allure of the imagery of the city is his most consistent muse. The buildings loom large, people are reduced to small action figures adding scale and a shared ambivalence about the power of the city that engulfs them. For this exhibition, Fraser pulls inspiration from his home town of Edmonton and many of the buildings that he had a hand in creating during his 36-year long career as an architect.
