Lakes & Streams
December 10, 2021 - December 11, 2021
To kick off their 2021/22 Season, Edmonton Fringe Theatre is welcoming Fringers back to a unique event exploring the breadth of possibility in hybrid digital/live production through the lens of Hunter & Jacquelyn Cardinal’s Lake of the Strangers.
Set in 1973 in Sucker Creek, Alberta, Lake of the Strangers is a story of two brothers who embark on their last summer adventure together. The play draws its strength from ancient nehiyaw mythology, deeply personal family history, Cree language and the worldviews kept safe within that language.
On December 10, come to the Westbury Theatre or tune in to FringeTV for Lakes & Streams: Jay Gilday Band, featuring the live in-person and livestream musical stylings of Jay’s unmistakeably rich sound on the set of Lake of the Strangers.
On December 11, enjoy an adapted live and live-filmed showing of Hunter & Jacquelyn Cardinal’s award-winning Lake of the Strangers, broadcast from the Westbury Theatre. The production has been adapted for a live/digital hybrid audience since its 2019 debut in the Backstage Theatre, and will again feature performer Hunter Cardinal.
Both events are available for in-person OR online purchase.
