Open Cockpit Day

September 14, 2019 - September 15, 2019

This is your chance to get channel your inner “jet jockey” or bush pilot by getting inside the cockpits of our iconic aircraft, most of which are not generally open to the public. This year’s event will focus on simulators: pilot a First World War biplane in the Ace Flight Academy Experience exhibit on loan from the Canada Air and Space Museum, check out the new Redbird flight simulators, or try your hand at piloting a lumbering four-engine airliner in the DC-6 simulator. Plus, come for the unveiling of a brand new exhibit featuring the University of Alberta’s AlbertaSat project, which has already designed, built, and launched one satellite into space and is working on another. Students from the project will also be on hand to talk about their work.
