Red Dress Day
May 5th is a national day of awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons. Churchill Square will be adorned with red dresses in all the trees, and the colour red will be streaming throughout the park. Red is known to be the only colour spirits see. It is hoped that, by wearing red, we can call back the missing spirits of our brothers and sisters so we can honour them in a good way.
This event will begin in Churchill Square and include a walk down Jasper Avenue, concluding in Beaver Hills House Park. There will be an open mic session for all to share, as well as food hampers. Everyone is encouraged to wear red.
