Thousand Faces Festival

November 5 - November 7

The Thousand Faces Festival is a multidisciplinary arts festival in Edmonton, AB that celebrates and nurtures Edmonton’s and Canada’s richly diverse cultural scene through mythic art and food.

A String of Mythic Pearls will take place October 15th and 16th starting at 6:30 PM at Alberta
Avenue Community Centre located at 9210, 118 Avenue. The evening’s performances will
include Tales for a River God — a collection of Chinese stories accompanied by original harp
music and Lion Dancing, multiple South Asian classical dance pieces, poetry reading, puppetry,
and more! Attendees will enjoy a free feast of multicultural treats from Alberta Avenue food
outlets, including Edmonton’s Fabulous Green Onion Cake Man. Entry both evenings will be by
donation, with the recommended donation at $25 per person. Due to anticipated reduced
COVID capacity, attendees will need to be fully vaccinated and register in advance on the
Festival’s website. The event will also be broadcast free online for those unable to attend
in-person.

Strings of Puppet Stories will stream multiple puppet performances November 5th-7th on
Youtube and Facebook Live. Archives of each performance will be available for 72 hours after
they are broadcast. These original Edmonton puppet performances for all ages will feature new
works by veteran and up and coming Edmonton Puppeteers, including the beloved Kaybridge
and Duffy’s Puppets. Strings of Puppet Stories will also feature the Thousand Faces Ensemble’s
The Creature in the Dark, a new play by Anishinaabe playwright Josh Languedoc (Rock and
Nakota: Tales From the Land, Feast).
